Sometimes the decision to try acupuncture begins with a simple search: “acupuncture near me.” Perhaps your back has been bothering you, stress has been taking up too much space, or you have been meaning to make time for your health.

A search can show you nearby offices. What it cannot always tell you is what it will feel like to walk through the door. Will someone listen? Can you ask questions? What happens if you are nervous about needles?

These are reasonable things to wonder—and part of choosing care that feels right for you.

Personalized Acupuncture Care in Evanston

At my practice, the first step is a conversation. I want to understand what brings you in, how it affects your daily life, and what you hope to get from care.

You might arrive with one specific concern. You might have several things on your mind and feel unsure where to begin. You do not need to have everything sorted out before your appointment.

Your health history, comfort, and goals help shape your treatment plan. Follow-up visits give us an opportunity to discuss your experience and make adjustments. My approach centers on that ongoing conversation.

Acupuncture for Pain and Stress

Pain and stress are common reasons people contact my practice. Maybe sitting at your desk has become uncomfortable, your shoulders feel tense through a demanding week, or persistent discomfort is making everyday activities harder.

When we meet, we can discuss what you are experiencing and whether acupuncture is an appropriate part of your care. We will also talk about what you hope to change and how we will review your response to treatment.

My practice also includes fertility and IVF support, prenatal care, and other concerns. If you are unsure whether your needs fit the services I offer, you are welcome to ask before scheduling.

What Should You Look for in an Acupuncturist?

Convenience matters, especially if you may be returning for follow-up appointments. It also helps to find a practitioner whose approach feels comfortable to you.

Before booking, consider asking:

  • Is the practitioner a licensed acupuncturist?
  • Do they work with the concern bringing me in?
  • What happens during the first appointment?
  • What are the costs, and how are follow-up recommendations decided?
  • Can I discuss concerns about needles or request adjustments during treatment?

You deserve understandable answers and time to make an informed decision. A consultation can be a useful way to begin.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first acupuncture visit includes a discussion of your health history, current concerns, and goals. Bring your questions, and let me know about medications, ongoing medical care, and any possibility of pregnancy.

If you are nervous, please say so. You can ask me to explain the process before we begin, and you can speak up at any point during treatment. Your comfort and consent are part of the appointment.

We will also discuss next steps. Recommendations depend on your situation and response to care; everyone does not need the same schedule.
